Things are surely not going we’ll between Kylian Mbappé and his club, PSG Paris Saint-German at the moment after the player announces to them in a letter, his decision not to activate the one year option in his contract.
PSG, who resigned the player following the end of his contract last summer knew this was coming but had hoped things would be different, and that they would be in a position to tie down the 24year old, for at least 2025.
Mbappé signed a two year contract with an option of one more but after another underwhelming campaign, which saw them get eliminated from the Champions League round of 16 by Bayern Munich, the Frenchman seems to have had enough.
His dream, which was to play for Real Madrid was denied last summer, but the two parties have since settled their differences after Mbappé apologized to Madrid and Perez following the failed move.
PSG has however reportedly decided to sell Mbappé this summer as failure to do so will see him leave for free next summer.
Reports also suggests that the club is ready negotiate a deal with anyone but Real Madrid, whose president, Florentino Perez had announced earlier that it will sign Mbappé but not this summer.
Desperate now, PSG have to sell Mbappé this summer because they will not be able to get him to sign an extension once it is August, and the player will be open to signing pre-agreement contract with another club in January.
PSG spent €180 million on signing Mbappé from AS Monaco in 2017 and resigning him last summer cost mouthwatering amounts – losing him for free will be bad business as the club had already lost some big names for nothing.
The decision to sell Mbappe this summer does not play well to the plans of Real Madrid, who are also currently short of options in attack and in the end, they might decide PSG’s resolve by tabling a bid for the player.
Selling a franchise player like Mbappé comes with difficulty because only a selected few can accommodate him in their squad, hence, the Parisiens might have to go back on their decision not to negotiate with Los Blancos.
