A Premier League footballer has reportedly been arrested in north London on suspicion of rape, as confirmed by a Metropolitan Police spokesman.
The man, who is said to be in his late 20s, precisely 29 but has not be named for legal reasons, was being questioned by police over an alleged attack which was said to have taken place on the 4th of June.
Scotland Yard confirmed in a statement that a suspect had been taken into custody in the early hours of Monday after being arrested at an address in Barnet.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “On 4 July, an allegation of rape of a woman in her 20s was reported to police. It was reported the alleged rape happened in June 2022.
“On 4 July, a 29-year-old man was arrested at an address in Barnet on suspicion of rape and taken into custody where he remains.”
“Enquiry into the circumstances are ongoing.” he concluded.
Detailed report suggests that the player is a Premier League star and international footballer who was due to play in the Qatar World Cup in November and the fact that only two clubs in North London play in the Premier League has made some names suspicious.
Also, player was arrested in North London doesn’t necessarily mean he represent a North London club. However, nothing can be said as of now as police will continue their investigation.
