PSG ready to part ways with Chelsea and Juventus target but one factor could prove stumbling block to a possible deal

PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi has literally in his latest interview confirmed that Neymar Junior is expendable in the new project.

Having succeeded in their fight to keep Kylian Mbappé for at least the next three years, Les Parisien are looking to embark on a new project, which according to Al Khelaifi is different from the previous one.

The last few seasons has seen PSG spent a fortune on bringing in superstars in the likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi and others.

However, a new era, which is to be spearheaded by incoming manager, Christophe Galtier is so much dependent on Kylian Mbappé, who is obviously the most important player for the club.

This summer has already seen the departure of players including Angel Di Maria, while many others are still expected to follow suit before the end of the window.

Speaking to Marca, Nasser Al Khelaifi has sent a strong to all PSG players out of the project. He was quoted to have said: “Our position is clear, players who are not part of the project have to leave this summer, there’s no other way.”

“Some players took advantage of the situation… but now, it’s over.” he added.

When asked about Neymar, he answered: “Neymar part of the new project or not? We can’t speak about this in public as some players will arrive, some players will leave the club. These are private negotiations.”

Neymar has looked a player on a decline since switching Spain for France in 2017 no thanks to his battle with injuries. Albeit is has been bright when available but his ability to carry the team has also depleted.

Chelsea and Juventus have been reported to be interested in the 30-year-old, who was made the most expensive player in football history five years ago by PSG, when they paid £198 million to Barcelona.

However, Neymar’s wage demands will be a major concern for the interested clubs. The Brazilian is on €30 million a year and signed a new contract only last summer, meaning he is tied to PSG until 2025.

Neymar does not appear to fancy a move away and that would make it really difficult for PSG to get rid of him since it would be very unlikely that any of the teams will agree to meet his wage demands.
