Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel claims captain Cesar Azpilicueta could still remain at the club beyond the summer, despite speculations surrounding the player’s future as his current contract expires next month.
There has been reports that the Spaniard could be heading to his country with Barcelona ready to sign him as a free agent and has already offered a two-year deal.
Speaking on Azpilicueta’s future, Thomas Tuchel said: “I can understand these thoughts that maybe a cycle is at its end [of his contract]. He’s a legend, we’re still in the process to decide his future.”
Azpilicueta 32, has previously said he has agreement with the former Chelsea owners to leave the club this summer and is waiting for the consent of the new owners before deciding his future.
It is clear Chelsea wants the player, whom they signed from Olympic Marseille in the summer of 2012 to stay at the club as the have also lost too many defenders last summer and this summer.
