Bayern Munich have begun talks with Ousmane Dembélé to sign him on a free transfer once his current Barcelona contract ends next month.
The Bavarians are set to offer the former Borussia Dortmund winger a four-year contract with a salary of around €18m per year.
Dembele, who left Germany in 2017 after just one season with Dortmund has battled with injuries at Barcelona but has lately managed to stay fit, and proving crucial for the club as they return to Champions League position having spent months out of the mix.
He currently has the most assists in La Liga this season, and the most of any player in the top five leagues since the turn of the year. Bayern has now identify him as a player that could help improve their forward line and the 25 year old will be tempted to return to Germany.
However, Barcelona will be disappointed to lose for free, a player they paid around €105 million to secure his services just five summers ago. The club’s effort to tie down the Frenchman on new terms as so far prove futile and Bayern are looking to capitalize on the situation.
With Barcelona strongly linked with a move for Leeds United winger, Raphinha, Dembele could feel threatened by the arrival of the Brazilian and a move to Bayern, he will consider a step up in his career.
