Brighton coast to a famous win away to Tottenham Hotspur for the first time since October 1981 thanks to a well taken goal from their Belgian forward, Leandro Trossard.
Brighton went into the game on the back of a 2-1 win at the Emirates last weekend, ending a run of six games without success with Trossard also on the score sheet alongside Enock Mwepu.
Tottenham Hotspur on the other side had won each of their last four in the league and looking for a fifth to match their best run of consecutive wins in the league which came in December 2018.
The first half ended goalless with a lot of controversy as Enock Mwepu and Dejan Kulusevski were very lucky to end the half with just a yellow card but with few chances created, both side would have felt it was a worthy scorelines heading for the break.
The scoreline would remain the same until the last minute of normal time when Trossard, who has played the last two games, including this one from left wing back picked up
possession on the edge of the Tottenham area after a pinball off Romero and Emerson.
The Belgian wisely took it round Dier before firing a low shot past Lloris into the far bottom corner to give the away side maximum points and their first back to back win in the league since September.
Tottenham on the other hand failed to establish a six points gap lead over Arsenal who play at the Saint Mary’s later today in the race for the top four.
It is their first loss since losing to Manchester United at Old Trafford while it is their first home loss since the 2-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wonderers back in February and Antonio Conte will be kicking himself for a missed opportunity right on their own turf.
Tottenham return to action next weekend with a tricky trip to Brentford while Brighton take on league leaders Manchester City in a midweek fixture on Wednesday.
