Having scored his 27th and 28th league goal of the season with a brace against Atalanta last night, the Portuguese is now a goal behind Lazio striker Immobile, in the race for the Serie A golden boot this campaign.
From 28 league outings, Cristiano Ronaldo has notched in 28 goals to help the Turin club’s cause to retain the Scudetto this campaign as competition from teams threaten to dethrone them from a title they have won consecutively since the 2011-12 season.
The former Real Madrid attacker has also helped himself close the gap on Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski in the race for the European golden boot this season to six goals.
Lewandowski currently lead the way having scored 34 goals in the already concluded BundesLiga season while Ronaldo (28) and Immobile (29) now have six games left to play in the Italian topflight.
With Ronaldo’s form of scoring in every league match since the restart, it will be too early to write him off from winning the award for the fifth time and becoming the only player to win it in three different leagues.
