Since Mikel Arteta took over at Arsenal towards the ending of last year, there has been improvements in the team generally with some fringe players showing positive signs and delivering top class performances.

The gunners have never lost a premier league game under the Spaniard and things seems to be getting better off field too as recent report suggest the gunners will recieve huge cash from club owner Stan Kroenke, to finalise transfer deals in the summer.

According to MailOnline, the 72-year-old has ‘guaranteed’ that he will inject millions into the club in order to help their finances whilst the season remains suspended.

More interesting one for the gunners is the news linking Ghana’s Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey with the club. As recent rumors suggest a local media in his country believed his dad confirmed talks are ongoing between the London club and the 26years old through a phone call.

It is believed that Arteta has wants to relief Mesut Özil of defensive responsibilities in order to get the best out of him and has made the Atleti man his No.1 transfer target for the summer as he believes the gunners need a defensive Midfielder and he is convinced in the ability of the Ghana international.

Hence, Oltsport takes a look at how Thomas Partey will fit into the Arsenal team.

Arteta’s Arsenal lined up with this formation in most of the matches played before the break which sees Granit Xhaka play more as a left back, covering for Bukayo Saka which limited his impact up front as Dani Ceballos has little to offer defensively. Partey’s arrival could ease the pressure on the Swiss midfielder.

Playing three at the back, Arteta will be happy to call on Xhaka and Partey in order to provide shield for his defenders and allow his wingers to focus more on attack. It can also give him the opportunity to utilize attacking players like Riess Nelson, Bukayo Saka and others on the sides of midfield.

The Spaniard can also decide to rest either of Ozil and Xhaka if he wants to play three at the front.

Partey could also star as a defensive midfielder in this formation if Arteta wants to utilize the host of attacking talents at the club.

As William Saliba will be joining the club ahead of the start of next season, joined with the news of a cash injection by Stan Kroenke, Arsenal are a team to watch out for next season.
