Arda Güler stars on his Real Madrid debut as Turks finally have fulfillment

Arda Güler’s wait for his Real Madrid bow finally came to an end on Saturday evening as he debuted in a 3-1 win over Arandina in the Copa del Rey third round clash.

The 18-year-old, who joined Los Blancos last summer, has endured a tough start to life in Spain, suffering one injury after another.

Arda Güler had featured three times on the Madrid bench before the trip to Arandina, unfortunately, he had not been opportune to debut, and his had led to frustration from Turkish fans, who can’t just wait to see their highly-rated prospect star for the biggest club there is.

Güler finally made his debut, started and played 59 minutes away to the Segunda Federacion side, where Carlo Ancelotti also included Vinicius Tobias in the XI for his first start for the club.

The former Fenerbahçe playmaker was the brightest player in the pitch as the first 45 minutes ended in a stalemate. Güler did hit the woodwork amidst Real Madrid pressure.

He came off just before the hour-mark, having created two chances and one big pass. He had such an exciting debut and did not disappoint fans in Turkey, who made the match the most watched Spanish club game in their country.

Describing the performance of the teenager at full time, manager Carlo Ancelotti said; “Arda Güler will improve his level little by little. He has showed his quality. The important thing is he’s back.”

Having made a good impression on his debut, Güler will hope to stay fit and compete for more minutes in a competitive Real Madrid midfield.
