The world awaits the biggest football tournament in Africa,The 34th edition of the Africa cup of nations (AFCON) which will take place between January 13 and February 11,2024 in Ivory coast.

Ahead of kickoff on Saturday, we check out the 24 nations that’ll battle for glory, we will be checking out teams who are ready to pay the price for a prize.

In this lists, we’ll be grouping each team categorically according to their pedigree, form, threats that they convey to other opponents.

Top of the lists will be those nations you would always want to place a bet on. Senegal, Nigeria, Morocco, Egypt and Algeria fall in this category.

The contenders are made up of teams who are also up there, we can say they also have good chances of winning the trophy. These are; Ghana, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Tunisia and South Africa.

Also, there are underdogs in the tournament also, one may easily write them off, but recently, they have proven not to only make up the numbers. Guniea, Mali, Zambia, Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo and Burkina Faso comes to mind here.

There are also nations of when there’s life there’s hope’ in the AFCON. To be honest, it wouldn’t be the case of the dark horses in the tournament. On papers, they don’t stand a threat to the favorites and the likes but it’s the game of football, anything can happen.

These are; Guniea Bissau, Namibia, Tanzania, Cape Verde, Equatorial Guniea, Mauritians, Gambia, and Mozambique.

Maybe there are teams who deserve better and those that need to be brought down in the hierarchy but they will have the job of proving themselves to deserve better in the AFCON kicking off in Ivory Coast.
