Top 10 Premier League stars tipped for a summer move away from their current clubs.
The summer transfer window presents opportunities for players to chance their environment, whether in the pursuit of a more lucrative deal or for whatever reason it may be.
The English Premier League has continued to stand out amongst the other leagues of this world and with clubs looking to strengthen their ranks in the next window, it will definitely be at the expense of others.
While players come in from abroad, some will only move from one club to another in the same league, or even the same city.
In this article, we take a look at the top 10 Premier League stars who could be on the move in the coming window and it contains some big names.
Top 10 Premier League stars who could be on the move
10. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerj of Tottenham Hotspur
After a failed move to Atletico Madrid last summer, starting just six of 27 appearances in the league does nothing to persuade the Dane to stay in the Lane.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerj has a contract that ends in 2025 but the coming summer should see him say his goodbyes to the club he joined from Southampton in the summer of 2020.
175 games on, the midfielder became an integral part of the set-up under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte. Unfortunately, he is not so much appreciated by the current boss, Ange Postecoglou.
He is in our list of the top 10 Premier League stars expected to sail off the shores of their current club. His experience will be appreciated by a lot of teams, including Atletico, who has already registered an interest in the 28-year-old.
9. Thomas Partey of Arsenal
It is unfortunate as it could have been better. However, looking back, Thomas Partey will be grateful he had the chance and he did fulfil his childhood dream of playing in the Premier League.
Despite being a top class player for Arsenal, the Ghanaian has hardly been available. He has missed 66 Arsenal games due to injuries since joining in the summer of 2021.
It is rather unfortunate because throughout his career before moving to Arsenal, he had only missed seven games for injury reasons.
Partey became an integral part of the set-up at Arsenal but costed them on several occasions because of his constant absence, with the run-in of the 2021-22 season a highlight, as the Gunners failed to secure a top four finish.
This season, Partey was sidelined with a hamstring injury for 112 days between October to March. He also missed out on the AFCON tournament with his country, Ghana.
With Mikel Arteta looking to offload a host of fringe players in the summer, Partey is likely to be on his way out, as the club has been linked with a host of names to succeed him. The presence of Jorginho also means one veteran has to make way.
Unfortunately, given his poor injury record, he has become unreliable and so he is our pick amongst the two, in the list of potentially outgoing top 10 Premier League stars.
Juventus has shown interest in the past. The Saudi Arabia clubs however will table a better offer to both Arsenal and Partey. It will then be down to the 30-year-old to choose his next destination.
8. Raphael Varane of Manchester United
It appears Raphael Varane will not continue with Manchester United after his contract ends this summer. United look set to release him and he makes our list of outgoing Premier League stars.
There has been no talks of new offers for the Frenchman, who joined in a £34 million move from Real Madrid in the summer of 2021.
Varane has made nearly a century of appearance for the Red Devils, but lack of consistency and injuries have headlined his spell so far at the club.
At 30, he is no longer engaged with the French national team and looks like his days at the top of the game is almost here. To add, the center back is also not attracting interest from any club in Europe.
A move out of Europe is a realistic prospect for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner, and trust the Saudi Arabia clubs to come rushing at a reputable name like Raphael Varane, who will also likely be available as a free agent.
7. Harry Maguire of Manchester United
Came close to joining West Ham United in the summer until the deal met a stumbling block due to inability to reach personal terms agreement.
But an interesting question is if Manchester United will still be opened to selling the English center back come this summer because he appeared to have fought his way back into the starting XI of Erik Ten Hag.
The Manchester United boss did not make a secret of his lack of trust in the former Leicester City defender but Harry Maguire has been his saviour countless times this season.
Aside from putting it all on the line in defence, Maguire has scored and assisted a couple of important goals, including the lone goal against Copenhagen in Old Trafford, and the assist for Scott McTominay’s late winner in the comeback success over Brentford in October.
Maguire can still attract interests given his experience and understanding of the game. It’ll be interesting to see where the 31-year old finds himself next season, with one year left on his United contract.
6. Lucas Paqueta of West Ham United
A proposed move to Manchester City last summer failed due to some awkward reasons, but with that already behind, the Cityzens are likely to rejuvenate their interest in Lucas Paqueta.
This is bound to happen for many reasons. One being the alternatives signed by Pep Guardiola have not really get going. Matheus Nunes and Mateo Kovacic have looked like passengers at the club so far.
Paqueta on the other hand continues to impress at West Ham United, even toppling his productivity for last season having played so many games less.
A proud representation of Jogo Bonito, Paqueta is a central midfielder, who loves to play as a No.8, occupying half-space on the righ in a midfield of three.
Very skillful and highly technical, his trickery makes him unplayable when in full flow. He is also very creative and despite all these, he adds also physical attributes to his game.
Not only Manchester City but other top teams will definitely approach West Ham United to enquire about the former Lyon midfield maestro, and that is why he makes our list of top 10 Premier League stars to watchout for in the summer transfer window.
5. Amadou Onana of Everton
Everton might not be able to live with what is coming in the summer, when Amadou Onana will be high in demand by top clubs.
Though he has a contract until 2027, the Merseyside club may be forced to fall to reason, and get the best out of the deal instead of holding on to a player that joined for £33 million from Lille two summers ago.
It does also translates that any suitor of the 22-year-old must be ready to splash the cash, for that will be Everton’s sole compensation for letting go of such a talented and important player for their project.
Amadou Onana is an aggressive ball-winning defensive-midfielder who loves to contest in duels. He reads the game so well. His front-footed style enables him to intercept passes or recover any loose ball, then retain possession and progress forward.
The Belgian has been key to Everton’s play this season, and has been much better than his first season at the club. His improvement is also shown in his output. The midfielder has already registered more goal involvement than last season.
Arsenal, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have all registered interest in Onana, who features in our list of 10 Premier League stars potentially in their final season at their clubs.
4. Ivan Toney of Brentford
After what is his fourth season with The Bees, Ivan Toney could bid farewell in the summer, when he’ll have just a year left on his contract.
The striker joined Brentford whilst it was in the Championship, helped secure promotion to the top-flight in his first season, with 33 goals and 10 assists, all in 44 games in the competition.
He has also been their best player since arrival in the top-flight, scoring double figures of goals in the last two Premier League season.
Unfortunately, he missed the start of the ongoing campaign due to a ban for gambling breaches, Toney has since returned to continue his good work, with four goals in 10 games.
The gambling topic has obviously affected his stock, reputation and value, as not all the top teams will be interested in luring him away from Brentford, but he can still attract a few given his talent, fight and persistent productivity.
Toney has 93 goal contributions in 134 Brentford games, and has been capped twice by England, including an appearance against Brazil, where he got off the mark for the Three Lions from the penalty spot.
In the past, he has been linked with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur – good for him as all these clubs could really use a proven goalscorer like him.
Let’s see how it goes with the 28-year-old as he is one of our top 10 Premier League stars tipped for a chance of environment come the summer.
3. Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace
Committed to the club until 2027, Eberechi Eze will be seen as a player who can earn Crystal Palace a huge income with his transfer.
Despite the obviousness of his talent, he struggled to replicate his Queens Park Rangers’ form in his early days at Palace but has been more consistent in recent seasons.
The English winger is a master dribbler, and can also play as a creative outlet down the middle. In recent time, Eze has also become a threat from deadball situations.
23 goal involvements since the start of last season, it is surely bound to get better once he upgrades his environment and secures a more to a more prominent club.
Top six clubs in England have been linked with the on-time Arsenal Academy star, with Tottenham Hotspur the leading figure.
The summer presents the right opportunity for Crystal Palace to sell in order to optimize his value, and it will also be the right time for the 25-year-old to get a big move, hence, his inclusion in our top 10 Premier League stars who could be on the move.
2. Michael Olise of Crystal Palace
Just like his teammate Eberechi Eze, but maybe even better when injury free, Michael Olise has been the Eagles’ knight in shining armor so far this season.
Despite missing the start of the campaign through injury, he returned to show Crystal Palace what they’ve been missing, by providing six goals and three assists in 11 games, before his sideline at the start of February.
Olise is a talented left-footed winger, who primarily plays as a right winger. He is very technical, and just like Eze, a master dribbler, who loves to cut inside on his favorite foot to unleash a shot at goal.
Discipline, creative, and good on set-piece, the 22-year-old is a real asset, and Palace can only be thankful he has a contract until 2027, signed at the start of the season.
The Frenchman turned down a move to Chelsea, which came as a shock to the Stamford Bridge landlord, as he choose to extend his stay at the Selhurst Park when the Blues thought he would be convinced by their project.
Injuries has restricted Olise to just 11 club appearances this season and that will be a major concern for his potentials suitors, though when fit and available, he can be unstoppable.
just like Eze, Olise is in our list of Premier League stars who could move this summer, though it will be difficult to see Palace lose its two best stars in the same window.
1. Mohamed Salah of Liverpool
At first it looked impossible but as time went, it started to get real. Fortunately, Liverpool were able to secure their star man for the season.
The above talked about the interest from Saudi Arabia clubs in the Egyptian last summer. How will The Reds combat it should a bid come for Mohamed Salah in the summer ?
The imminent departure of Jurgen Klopp makes Liverpool vulnerable from keeping their star players should lucrative bids come in for them, and Salah having a year left on his contract is not looking good.
The former AS Roma winger turns 32 in the summer and approaching the end of his prime. His next contract will surely be the last he can really get the best from.
A bid from Saudi Arabia could be irresistible, with Liverpool also set to kickoff another era post Klopp, they could as well be prepared for the departure of Mohamed Salah.
The chances of him leaving the club this summer is up there. With 207 goals and 86 assists for the club since he joined in a £43 million deal from Roma in the summer of 2017, he has obviously served Liverpool at the top of his game.
Salah has helped Liverpool to both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League titles, with multiple success in Cup competitions. He could also finish the season with more silverwares as Klopp’s men are well placed for both the League and Europa League.
Top of our list of the top 10 Premier League stars who could be in their final season at their current clubs, the English top-flight might bid farewell to arguably the best right-winger it has ever seen, come May.
