Seven straight Premier League wins achieved following their 4-1 humbling of Leeds United at the Emirates last week’s Saturday evening.
Just the perfect response from Mikel Arteta’s side after watching Manchester City thrash Liverpool by the same score line just before kickoff in London on the day.
A five point advantage maintained after City beat Southampton this weekend, though City have a game in hand, but this is the position Arsenal would rather be, because games in hand can be very tricky. They might be worth nothing in the end.
But with considerably tougher games on the horizon, the Gunners will have to do what even Manchester City can not do to boost their chances of winning the title.
Winning in Anfield. Even in their lowest, Liverpool were able to beat Manchester City in Anfield, while the other Manchester club still bears the scars of that 7-0 humiliation in March.
As Arsenal prepare for the trip to Liverpool, they have to ensure that no point is dropped, even so after watching the toothless display from the Jürgen Klopp side, which saw them disgraced by City in the Ethiad.
Watching that contest, there must be conviction in Mikel Arteta that his side are definitely better than Liverpool but winning in Anfield won’t be as easy, and Arteta and his players are no stranger to how unfavourable the atmosphere is for visiting teams.
However, they also know a loss will the detrimental to their chances of winning the league title as City could easily catch-up at any slight mistake they make.
Their last away win at Liverpool came long ago in 2012, when Manager, Mikel Arteta himself was a player for Arsenal but they’ve already beaten Liverpool this season at the Emirates, which is something that hasn’t been too realistic since Klopp took over.
Doing the double over Liverpool will be massive for their chances, and will also go a long way to convince every doubter that this team is not just renting the position, but there to be crowned Champion.
