Arsenal equals a 32-year-old record in their hard fought win over Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby.

Arsenal returned to winning ways in the Premier League thanks to Gabriel’s second half header in the North London derby.

Arsenal put behind them the disappointment of their one all draw with Brighton before the international break as they secured a very impressive victory over their city rivals.

The first North London derby of the season was headlined by the absence of Arsenal’s midfield duo of Martin Ødegaard, injured, and Declan Rice, suspended, as Spurs welcome back Micky van de Ven and Dominic Solanke.

After a heated first-half, which produced seven yellow cards, equalling the record for most in the first-half of a single Premier League game, Arsenal broke the deadlock four minutes after the hour mark as Gabriel Magalhaes rises heighest to head home a Bukayo Saka corner kick.

The goal means Gabriel, 15 extends his record as the highest scoring defender since his arrival in the Premier League in September 2020, while Bukayo Saka continues his hot form of assisting in every club game this season.

The highlight of the day, after full time was Arsenal securing their third straight away win at Tottenham Hotspur, the first time they’ve done so in the Premier League era, and the first since 1988 under George Graham.

An impressive record for Mikel Arteta, who celebrates his contract extension with the Arsenal with an important win.
