Bayern are on the verge of completing a £3.5million deal for out of favour Tottenham Hotspur center back, Eric Dier. The 29 year old defender was told to find a new club a few weeks ago as Tottenham eyed a new center back to replace him.
Bayern had initially considered signing Trevoh Chalobah on loan in the summer transfer window, but Chelsea had refused to let him out on loan except his price tag of 30 million Euro was met. Thomas Tuchel had praised Dier in his recent interview for his versatility in defense and his ability to play as a defensive midfielder.
“We are getting him for the Centre back position, can play right or left centre back as well as in a back three. He also used to play as #6 in the premier league some years ago” Tuchel said in his last interview to confirm Eric Dier’s Transfer to the German team.
Tottenham has announced the transfer of Eric Dier replacement in Romanian defender Radu Dragusin for £26.5 million. The former Genoa man rejected Bayern last minute offer to hijack the transfer from Tottenham as he believes he has more chance of getting into the starting lineup in the London team.
Eric Dier arrived at the Munich Airport on Thursday morning to sign his contract to the Bavarians. The announcement would be imminent as soon as the paperwork is complete.
Dier, who has been restricted to just four appearances, amounting to 199 minutes will hope to find his feet in the German capital with Bayern Munich, where he will reunite with former Tottenham teammate Harry Kane.
