The defender has also been linked with a move to Barcelona as Xavi wants to recruit a left footed center back while Bayern Munich have also registered interest in the player after losing Niklas Süle to Dortmund.
Antonio Rüdiger and Andreas Christensen will both depart Chelsea this summer and Tuchel feels the former Roma youngster will be the perfect man to fill the shoes whilst other defensive additions are expected.
Romagnoli joined Milan in 2015 and has made over 200 league appearances. His current contract with the Rossoneri runs out this summer and getting him for free will help relieve the burden caused by the free departure of their two center back.
