Chelsea goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy has likened new Manchester City striker, Braut Erling Haaland to Crystal Palace striker, Christian Benteke.
Norwegian striker, Haaland completed a summer move from Borussia Dortmund this summer and having already established an astonishing reputation, he is arguably the most anticipated player in the coming season.
However, Chelsea goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy does not sound much impressed when asked about the former Molde striker.
“We have to focus on every striker. It’s not because it’s Haaland. I look at Haaland like I look at, say, Benteke at Palace – it’s not that different between Crystal Palace and Man City.” Mendy answered when asked about Haaland.
Chelsea face Manchester City in the league first at the Stamford Bridge in their first game of the 2023 calender year while the second leg will take place at the Ethiad in the penultimate match of the league season.
“You have to be focused, he’s a striker, he can score.” He concluded.
Christian Benteke has scored a total of 20 league goals in the past five seasons but Manchester City fans will surely anticipate more from their big name striker even in his debut season.
The season kicks off in under a month now and even though Mendy is right with the claim Haaland, like Benteke can score goals, it will be known whether it will be at the same rate.
