Peruvian striker Claudio Pizarro bids farewell to football after helping Werder Bremen stay in the Germany topflight next season at the expense of Heidenheim.

The 41year old, who moved from Peruvian club, Alianza Lima in 1999 to Werder Bremen spent 21years in Europe playing for the likes of Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Koln.

Pizarro won six BundesLiga titles, five DFB-Pokal, one DFB-Super cup, the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, Intercontinental cup and the club world cup with Bayern Munich in his two stints at the club starting in 2001-07 and 2012-15.

He joined Chelsea in 2007 but was loaned out to Werder Bremen the following season after enduring a horrible first season in England. He won the DFB-Pokal with the German club before finally sealing a permanent move there in the summer.

The striker signed a one year contract with Koln in 2017 and returned to Werder Bremen after his contract ends at Koln, for his fourth stint at the club.

On July 6 2020, after helping Werder Bremen avoid relegation this season, Pizarro calls time on his football career having scored 337 goals in 872 games.
