France becomes the first and only European country to have won all major competitions after beating Spain 2-1 in the final of the UEFA Nations league on Sunday evening.
Goals from Karim Bemzema and Kylian Mbappe helped the Didier Deschamps men come from behind to seal the win after going behind to a Mikel Oyarzabal strike four minutes after the hour mark.
Real Madrid striker, Karim Bemzema continued his blistering form in front of goal to restore parity for France, just under two minutes after going behind with a sensationally curled effort, which beats Unai Simon in the Spain goal.
Fourteen minutes after assisting France’s equaliser, Kylian Mbappe turned Goalscorer. Theo Hernández through ball was meant for the PSG forward, but an Eric Garcia touch took the steam off it for the forward, who appeared to have evaded his marker.
He was however able to connect and beat Simon to put France ahead on the night.
Spain pushed for an equaliser later on but Hugo Lloris stood his ground and would not be beaten for a second time, to help the World Champions see out the win.
The Cup success means France becomes the only European side to have won all major trophies on the international stage.
The current world Champions have won the World Cup in 1998 before recording another success in the competition three years ago in Russia.
They were also crowned Champions in the 1984 and 2000 editions of the European Championships. Won the Confederation Cup in 2001 and 2003. Their 1984 squad also saw them to the Olympics title that same year.
And now the UEFA Nations League, a competition which started in 2019 was reaching just her second edition, and Les Blues stamped their authority to claim the prize and become ‘The Invincible’ country of international football in Europe.
The win makes them the only country in Europe to have won all the possible international trophies.
