Former Ghanaian winger Raphael Dwamena has lost his life on Saturday due to heart failure during a match between his Albanian club, KS Egnatia and Partizani.

Raphael Dwamena dies aged 28 while playing for his Albanian club KS Egnatia.
The 28-year-old collapsed in the 24th minute of the match and was rushed the hospital, where he eventually gave up the ghost en route.
Dwamena had been a very vital player for Egnatia this season having joined on a free transfer in December 2022. In ten league games he has played a direct involvement in as many goals, nine goals and one assist.
Raphael Dwamena’s battles with heart conditions
In the summer of 2017, Dwamena was set to join Brighton in the Championship from Austrian club FC Zurich but failed a medical after the club detected a serious heart conditions hence did not push through with the deal.
Just over two years later in October 2019, he was on loan at Real Zaragoza from Levante and Doctors recommended that he retires due to the severeness of his condition but he choose to play on.
It made Zaragoza returned him to his parent club. He never played again for Levante as well but continued to train with a defibrillator until he secured a move to Danish side Vejle Boldklub as a free agent in 2020.
During his time in Denmark, heart issue was detected before a match in October, which subsequently brought a end to his time at the club as his contract was terminated and he returned to Austria, where he joined BW Linz on a free transfer.
He featured only three times for the club – when in October 2021 he collapsed during a Cup game against TSV Hartberg, which made the game abandoned, and he never played for the club again.
Dwamena – who made his international debut for Ghana in June 2017 against Ethiopia, where he scored a brace to mark it, joined KS Egnatia in Albania as a free agent on a one-and-a-half-year agreement, which had been extended to two years given his superb performances.
