Ivory Coast coasts to a 2-0 win over Guinea-Bissau in African Cup of Nations AFCON. 2023 curtain raiser inside the Alessane Ouattara Olympic Station in Abidjan.

Goals in either half from Seko Fofana and Jean-Philippe Krasso sealed a convincing win for a dominant Jean-Louis Gasset’s side in front of almost 37 thousand fans.

Just after four minutes into the game, Al Nassr midfielder Seko Fofana fired a beautiful strike to the right top corner after receiving the ball from Al Ahli man Franck Kessie.

Jean-Philippe Krasso doubled Ivory Coast’s lead two minutes before the hour-mark. The Crvena Zvezda striker got hold of a lose ball and expertly took it out of reach of the defenders before gliding his effort past the Goalkeeper, ensuring the absence of Sébastien Haller was not felt.

It finished 2-0 to the Elephants, who kick off the competition with a brilliant display as they look to become the latest and the ninth nation to win the tournament on home soil.

Next for the two-time AFCON winners is a nation who has won the tournament on home soil, Nigeria. But that will not come until the Super Eagles battle Equatorial Guniea on Sunday.

For Guinea-Bissau, their next two games have now become must-win if they are to continue their journey in the competition after the group stage.
