The Egyptian Football Association has confirmed Mohamed Salah will leave the national team camp in Ivory Coast and return to his club in England to undergo treatment on his hamstring injury.

The Pharoah captain suffered the injury in the first-half of the AFCON draw with Ghana in their second game of the tournament, and has been ruled out for the rest of their final group game against high-flying Cape Verde.

Mohamed Salah will also not be available for the first two knockout games should Egypt progress. He will only be available for the semi final match.

To get the best treatment possible, the winger has been sent back to his club Liverpool as he is already ruled out of future AFCON games, and he is expected to arrive back in the United Kingdom on Monday.

Speaking on the situation of things, Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp said; “If Mohamed Salah is fit before the FINAL, then probably I can confirm that he will go back to the AFCON.”

Salah scored a late penalty to help Egypt earn a point in their opening game against Mozambique in Ivory Coast. Rui Vitoria’s minions have added one more point in the draw against Ghana.

They will need a win against already qualified Cape Verde to reach the knockout round of the AFCON, even so should the meeting between Ghana and Mozambique produce a winner.

Meanwhile Liverpool has won all three games without Mohamed Salah, maintaining their Emirates FA Cup status as well as on the top of the Premier League table.
