Manchester United got off to a good start with Cristiano Ronaldo putting them in front after Anthony Elanga robbed Ben Gibson off possession to set up the Portuguese, who beat Tim Krul from close range in the seventh minutes.
The lead was doubled two minutes after the half hour mark with Ronaldo heading home a corner from Alex Tellex.
Kieran Dowell pulled one back for the visitors just before half time and Teemu Pukki restored parity seven minutes after the restart.
Ronaldo then completes his hat-trick from a free-kick 14 minutes from time after Anthony Elanga was brought down by Greek left-back, Dimitrios Giannoulis and Ronaldo fired home from yards out.
The result put United ahead of Arsenal and West Ham United as they move up to fifth on the log.
