Seems the storm is never getting over for Mauricio Pochettino’s side as they sufferer a 4-1 defeat to an impressive Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United on Saturday evening.

Headed into the game on the back of a 4-Star performance at the Tottenham stadium and the stellar performance against defending champions Manchester City, The blues thought they could have a proper redemption against the Magpies.
Alexandar Isak drew the first blood at the 13th minute, then Raheem Sterling responded with a spectacular free kick to draw the visitors level just 10 minutes after going behind. He became the first Chelsea player to score a free-kick in the Premier League since Mason Mount in October 2022 against Aston Villa.
At the start of the second half, Chelsea had hoped to hit the front foot but things went the other way as Jamal Lascelles gave the home team the lead for the second time in the match, heading home an Anthony Gordon’s cross from the left to make it 2-1.
There was no respite for Chelsea as this time the host would go on to dominate for the rest of the game.
Not Less than a minute after conceding a second, The Blues let their guard down as a poor back-pass from Thiago Silva was pounced on by Joelinton, who beat Sanchez with a fine finish for his first goal of the Premier League season.
Reece James was shown a second yellow and a subsequent red 17 minutes to the end of normal time. The Chelsea captain had not had an enjoyable game up to the time and he clumsily brought down Gordon, earning himself a marching order.
There was time for Gordon to get on the score sheet and the 22-year-old capped off a brilliant individual display to make it 4-1 seven minutes from time to seal a return to winning ways for Newcastle United, who had lost back-to-back games before the international break.
A disappointing result leaves Chelsea tenth on the log thanks to the failure of Brentford and Crystal Palace too in the weekend. Next for Mauricio Pochettino’s side is a meeting with Brighton at the Stamford Bridge next Sunday.
As for Newcastle United, they travel to Paris to face PSG in the Champions League before returning to the league on Saturday, when they entertain high-flying Manchester United.
