Spanish giants, Real Madrid have release a statement following the incidence that happened in their away game to Valencia in the LaLiga on Sunday night.
Their Brazilian star, Vinicius Junior was a subject of racial abuse following altercation amongst the players, which ended in the 22year old getting a marching orders.
The even has not gone down well and it appears the hottest topic in the world football since then, even Manchester City’s Premier League title win is struggling to keep up.
In response to it all, Real Madrid have now released a statement in relation to the incidence and it reads:
“Real Madrid C. F. would like to thank the numerous expressions of affection, solidarity and affection received from all over the world towards our player Vinicius Júnior.
The attacks of hatred and racism must be eradicated from our society forever and this is how personalities from all walks of life and from different national and international institutions have been pronounced after what happened yesterday at the Mestalla stadium.
Our club shows its gratitude to the highest authority of world football, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who has said that matches where these hate crimes are committed should be stopped and suspended.
Also our thanks to the president of Brazil, Lula Da Silva, who asks that serious measures be taken to combat this problem and whose victim is, as he said, “a young man who triumphed in life and who is becoming one of the best soccer players in the world.”
Likewise, his teammates have shown solidarity and support for Vinicius, both those of Real Madrid and those of the rest of the world’s teams. Legends, players and coaches, some of them as significant on the international scene as Ronaldo Nazario, Mbappé, Rio Ferdinand, Neymar, Kaká, Jadon Sancho, Lineker, Roberto Carlos or Casemiro, among dozens and dozens of world soccer figures.
The unfortunate events that have gone around the world and embarrass our football, as they are reflected and denounced in the major international media. From the Washington Post or L´Équipe, to cite just a few emblematic examples, they emphasize in a very forceful way the serious problem of Spanish football.
And finally, we are surprised by the statements of the president of the Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, because being as he is the head of Spanish football and the arbitration team, he has allowed no decisive action to have been taken, according to FIFA protocols, to avoid the situation that has been reached. The image of our football is severely damaged and deteriorated in the eyes of everyone.
With his passivity, he has contributed to the helplessness and helplessness of our player Vinicius. The arbitrators, far from acting firmly and applying the regulatory protocols, have chosen in most cases to inhibit themselves and avoid making the decisions that corresponded to them. Just yesterday, the collegiate and those responsible for the VAR evaded their responsibilities and made unfair decisions based on incomplete images, which were not seen in their entirety, which were biased and which caused the direct expulsion of our player Vinicius Júnior.
Unfortunately, what happened yesterday and the management that was done by the referees and the VAR did not perceive it as something isolated, but as something that has been repeated in many of our matches. The victim who suffers it can never be held responsible for the crime.
For all these reasons, we see with great concern that the Spanish Football Federation has not taken any action in all this time, despite the obvious and repeated warning signs that we have been denouncing from our club.
Real Madrid hopes that, given the seriousness of the current situation and the image that is being offered of Spanish football to the world, action will be taken forcefully and immediately by all those who have responsibility and competences to combat these scourges that are racism, xenophobia and hatred. Our club will continue to work so that the values that have sustained our history continue to be a model of coexistence and exemplarity.”
