Real Madrid has sent a strong message of congratulation to Cristiano Ronaldo, prasing him as one of the all-time great following his monumental milestone of 900 career goals.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored to double Portugal’s lead just after the half-hour mark in a 2-1 UEFA Nations League win over Croatia on Thursday for his 900th career goal, and Real Madrid took to their X page, formerly known as Twitter to praise the five time Ballon d’Or winner.
“Another historic milestone: 900 goals in the professional career of one of the greatest legends of Real Madrid and world football. Congratulations, dear and admired Cristiano! Real Madrid and Madrid fans are always proud of you.” The club tweeted.
The Portuguese spent nine seasons with Real Madrid, with whom he scored half of his goals and leading them to four UEFA Champions League titles, including three in his final three seasons at the club.
Manchester United is next on the list of clubs he scored more for, managing 145 goals over two different stints and 131 others for Portugal, which makes him extends his record as the all-time leading men’s goalscorer on the international stage.
Juventus makes fourth team where the 39-year-old has scored triple digits of goals. Los Blancos legend has netted 68 times for his current club, Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia while the remaining five goals were scored for Sporting CP, where the journey began in 2002.
“It was emotional. It seems like any other milestone, but only I know how hard it is to work every day to score your 900th goal. It’s a unique milestone in my career.” said the Al Nassr striker after the game.
Portugal faces Scotland on Sunday and will look to build on their win over Croatia, while the former Madridsta will hope to again be among the goals, as he tries to further strengthen his chances of keeping the all-time leading Goalscorer on the international stage, with the end of his career already approaching.
