Chelsea are still in talks with Brighton for the signing of Ecuadorian midfielder, Moises Caicedo in a big money move but the London giants may soon find themselves in no man’s land in the window.
Having oversee the departure of their main midfield players in the last six months, the Blues are now left with just January signing Enzo Fernandez as the only main midfielder.
Despite still having the likes of Conor Gallagher, Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei and Andrey Santos on the book, they are not up to the standard to count on heading into a 38-game Premier League season.
The consequences of their failure to start business earlier could ended up hurting their chances in the coming season, since they after all will be expected to make further midfield signing even after landing Caicedo.
Chelsea finished out of the top ten in the Premier League last season and their fellow top six rivals have made one or two signings to strengthen the ranks and replace departed players this summer.
However, Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who has lost the likes of N’Golo Kanté, Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, Kai Havertz and Jorginho (in January) still lobbying to complete a midfield signing this summer.
Options at this time appears limited and time is also slowly running out for a club, who is expected to spend in this window, despite having spent more than £600 million in the previous two windows.
While Caicedo will be a really exciting addition, Chelsea should be already working on the arrival of other midfield players, so as to be able to sign quality and at the right price.
Still early in the window but delay could mean they either overpay for a player or just buy for the sake of buying, when the better options have moved elsewhere or clubs becoming reluctant to sell as their is not enough time to get a replacement.
Chelsea, already out in the USA for the Summer Series and kicked off the tournament with a 4-3 win over Brighton thanks to goals from Nkunku, Mudryk, Gallagher and Nicolas Jackson.
It’s a relief for everyone around the club seeing Mudryk most importantly finally scoring a first goal in the Chelsea shirt and that will expectedly be a confident boost for the Ukrainian in the coming weeks.
Despite this, Chelsea will still have to strengthen the midfield with more than just the addition of Moises Caicedo if they are to stand any chance against their fellow top guns, once the new season gets up and running.

Why are u all like this? We made rash decisions on our signings during the last transfer saga now we're taking our time so we won't get rob again and u keep complaining. Meanwhile the transfer window is just 27 days gone. We stilp got about 33 days so why the rush common guys
If care is not taking we might end up badly than last season.
We sole all the players and we can't buy valuable players to replace them.
There are better midfielder than caicedo
There are the like of ambrabat which Chelsea can sign
That is what Man U fans say all the time and they end up getting rubbish players
We need to sign Caicedo and and proper CM
I still honestly do not understand the reason for the delay because the fact that we ended so badly last season and we've sold a lot of players in that midfield should also be the main reason for them to get new and quality players on time. It's like they've not learnt from their past mistakes. I pray they get their ads together and get these players on time.
We surely sign but me too dey fear coz it’s getting late, make dem look other option if Caicedo deal is too hard
