First and 21st respectively, Elena Rybakina and Novak Djokovic have the glory of the Wimbledon 2020 following victory over their respective final opponent.
Elena Rybakina becomes the 57th different Grand Slam female winner in the Open Era and the 23rd in Wimbledon .
On Saturday, Elena Rybakina come from a set down to beat Ons Jabeur and subsequently win first ever Grand Slam title on Center Court.
The Russian-born Kazakhstani player sealed a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 win in 1h 43mins over Ons, who was tagged favourite before kickoff.
Rybakina becomes the first Kazakh female player in the Open Era to win a WTA-level title on grass and now the Kazakh female player with the most WTA-level titles in the Open Era with his third title.
She also becomes the youngest female player to win the title in Wimbledon since Petra Kvitova in 2011 and the first to win a a Grand Slam final via a comeback since Naomi Osaka in the 2020 US Open final.
Most importantly, Rybakina is now the first ever Kazakh to win a Grand Slam title.
On Sunday, Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios took to the grass to determine who wins the title in Wimbledon and at the end of a four sets match, which lasted for 3h 2mins, it is Novak Djokovic ending the day with his 21st Grand Slam title.
The Serbian come from a set down to claim the contest 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 and become the fourth player in the Open Era to win four or more consecutive titles in Wimbledon after Björn Borg, Pete Sampras and Roger Federer.
He moved one more Grand Slam title ahead of Roger Federer and now only one behind Rafael Nadal, who holds the record for the most Men’s Singles Grand Slam title.
Djokovic also becomes the first player in the Open Era to win the title in Wimbledon after having drop the first set in quarter-finals, semi-finals and final – and the first since Ted Schroeder in 1949.
