Marcus Rashford’s brace and a Phil Foden’s goal downed Wales while The US nick one off a sloppy Iran to seal passage into the next round of the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
England saw off their fellow Brit to claim the top spot in Group A and set up a round of 16 clash with African Champion, Senegal while the USMNT secure runner up spot and faces The Netherlands in the next round.
After a rather boring first half, Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden scored a quick fire double at the start of the second half to help England establish a two goal lead.
Marcus Rashford stepped up and fired home a free-kick from 20 yards after Phil Foden was fouled by Joe Rondon, five minutes after the restart.
Two minutes later, Foden was on the score sheet as the Manchester City attacker made a great run to get on the end of a Harry Kane cross and fire a one time shot into the back of the net.
Marcus Rashford made it 3-0 in the 68th minute as his shot was too powerful for Danny Ward to prevent, following a flipped pass from Kalvin Phillips, putting the result beyond Wales.
The United States secured the runner up spot thanks to a Christian Pulisic’s goal in the 38th minute of the contest, when the Chelsea man tapped home from close range following a header from Sergino Dest.
Gregg Berhalter’s men enjoyed better spell of the possession and created the better Goalscoring chances but unfortunately, were unable to add to their one goal lead.
Fortunately, Iran did not have much fight to ask difficult questions as they held on to the win, meaning they face The Netherlands, who are the Group winners in A and England faces Senegal in the next round.
Interesting games in our hands as we continue to look forward to the other groups for further drama when final group round continues in the coming days.
