The former Manchester City man made just 11 league appearances for Chelsea since joining in the summer of 2017. He moves to Southampton on loan until the end of the season due to injuries to their two first choice Goalkeepers Alex McCarthy and Fraser Foster.
Also on the sideline for Ralph Hasenhuttl side is Stuart Amstrong. While Che Adams is also an injury doubt. Oriol Romeu and Mohammed Salisu are suspended both for a fifth caution of the season.
For the Gunners, who have just one win in their last four games, they will be looking to return to winning ways when they play in front of the home fans. They have dropped to seventh after they were so close to moving into the top four. A win over Southampton will help ease the pressure.
Emile Smith Rowe missed the Monday night loss to Everton due to injury and Mikel Arteta in his recent interview has confirmed the player will return having trained with the rest of the group.
There are also rumours that captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will miss the game having missed the last session for the game. Gabriel Martinelli might get another chance to start and get ready when the Gabonnese leaves for the African Cup of Nations next month.
