After the teams involved on day one have made quite some impression with The Expendables, Faka United, Hydro FC and Predators FC all emerging victorious in their respective games, the teams playing on day two were eager to make good accounts of themselves and they did not disappointing, although one at the expense of another.
The result of games played on Sunday 13th February.
The first game of the day was a thrilling contest between Smart FC and Mariners FC but only one side will find it thrilling as Mariners FC were on the receiving end of a 6-0 win for a dominant Smart FC.
Ajayi David (Villa Cruz) scored a hat-trick with the first two coming in the first half, both set up by his partner in crime, Akintayo Akinyinka (YK).
They started the second half in like fashion and when the third goal of the game came through Christian, they were out of sight in no time as Villa Cruz completed his hat-trick while Alao Toheeb (Kobu) and Jesse added a goal each to give them a massive 6-0 win.
The resultant makes them the only side to have score as many as six goals and not concede in just one game in FUNAAB since statistics has been recorded in the citadel.
Overall, Villa played a direct involvement in four goals, one assist and three goals. Setting an even better standard compared to what The Expendables’ Adebayo (Ronaldo) did on the opening day.
Hat-trick Hero, Ajayi David, Villa Cruz.
The second game of the day was a more even contest as Ultimate FC battled Exceptional FC, moreso that no side was unable to find a winner as the spoilt was shared, in the first stalemate of the HF WORLD Exquisite Soccer Gala.
Smart FC occupy the top spot in that group followed by both Ultimate FC and Exceptional FC, both on a point each. A mountain to climb for Mariners FC after their lethargic display in the first game of matchday two and a lot to make up for, to secure a place in the quarter finals.
The first game of Group D birth a shocker as ANP FC defeated The Incredibles by a lone goal, a penalty scored by their talented young winger, Frank, after Felix was adjudged to have handled the call in the area.
The final game of the day was commended by spectators as the most entertaining and interesting of all so far as both Hell Boys and Comrades FC treated them to a scintillating showing at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeouta, FUNAAB Sports Center, Ogun State, Nigeria.
The first half produced no goal but it was a brilliant all-round play by both teams. However, Hell Boys striker, Bryan broke the deadlock seven minutes into the restart. The striker latched onto a loose ball in the box to produce the first goal of the game.
Hell Boys however were to be denied maximum points as LA scored a beauty late on in the game and it finished 1-1, the first game of the competition, where the two teams involved have produced goal each.
The youngest squad in the competition, ANP FC retain the top position in the group after their win. A shocking loss for Incredibles FC leave them rueing missed chances as they must have thought ANP FC should have been walked over in the group.
