Last summer, Real Madrid tried to lure the attacker to the Bernabéu but unfortunately, efforts prove futile even though the player wants the move but he has been restricted by the circumstances and his environment, apparently.
However, he was only able to satisfy PSG’s dream in the hope that they can help achieve his as their goals were aligned. Both have not won the Champions League, which is the only title that has eluded them so far.
The situation is awkward for Mbappé following persistent interest from his dream club in the summer but PSG did all it could to make him stay, including putting him in a very difficult position.
His decision to remain in Paris did not go down well with Madrid but it is obvious Madridstas would still grow love and forgive him if he ended up in Madrid in the next few years.
PSG looking to be building their own Galactico in order to finally win UEFA’s biggest club competitions but as it worked for Real Madrid in the past, it no longer do these days, mostly for clubs who attain the stars with the obsession of winning the championship.
Mbappé, the only one amongst the PSG superstars yet to win the Champions League is the one with time on his side to do so and has to start planning towards leaving his current club, because their future in Europe isn’t that filled with optimism.
Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos and Neymar Jr have all won the Champions League while with LaLiga clubs and for Mbappé to take his career to the next level with a better chance of winning the Championship, moving out of Paris has to be top of that list.
The superstars were acquired to win the Champions League but unfortunately, since all started playing together since the start of last season, they’ve not even played in the quarter final of the competition as they’ve been eliminated in the round of 16 in the last season and now.
Maybe now, Mbappé has to consider moving on, away from the company of foreign winners in Paris Saint-Germain and to the company of winners in Madrid.
Asked if Champions League elimination can play a part on his future in a post match interview. Kylian Mbappé answered;
“No, no, I’m calm, the only thing that matters to me this season is to win now Ligue 1 and then we’ll see.”
It is not hidden, Mbappé’s love for Real Madrid and this time, maybe he is the one that has the bigger job to do as Real Madrid will or might not be willing to go all out for him, knowing he is contract tied to Les Parisens until 2024.
Mbappé’s PSG contract ends in the summer of 2024 but there’s also an option to extend it until 2025. However, if the terms of the extension is also dependent on the player’s decision, then it is safe to say his time with PSG ends in 2024.
And if Real Madrid would no longer return for him, it will be a huge disappoinment on the player’s part as he would not be able to live his dream and it will be more difficult choosing the right club to help him achieve his dream of winning the Champions League.
Nonetheless, should PSG fail again in the Champions League next season, it is a no-brainer that it should be Mbappé’s final season at the club, if he has the choice to turndown the one-year option.
