Currently unattached, Zinedine Zidane is increasingly being linked with a move to PSG Paris Saint-Germain to succeed Mauricio Pochettino, who is considered expendable at the club.
Multiple sources have also reported that the former Real Madrid manager is on his way to Qatar to sign an eighteen month contract to become the new manager of Les Parisiens.
However, contrary to the speculations, it is highly unlikely that the 49-year-old assumes the reign as PSG boss if his comments in 2016 is to be considered.
When asked if he’d consider managing at PSG in 2016, Zidane answered: “Impossible. I am in Madrid and I am from Marseille. It is complicated.”
Moreso, in response to the recent speculations of him going to Qatar to accept PSG’s offer, Zinedine Zidane’s advisor Migliaccio tells L’Équipe: “All these rumors about an agreement with PSG are unfounded. Neither Zinedine nor I have been contacted directly by the PSG owner.”
“I’m the only one allowed to speak for Zidane and represent him, as of today,”
Zidane is from Marseille and played for Real Madrid, both who are not friends with Les Parisien so it makes the situation complicated for Los Blancos legend, both as a player and manager.
A lot has changed since 2016 but it only got better for Zidane as a manager of his dream club, where he is appreciated and he also appreciates, making the switch to Paris a tougher decision.
