Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has revealed that it will be a very busy summer for the club as up to ten players will be coming in transfer window as the club will look to rebuild under a new manager, most likely Erik Ten Hag.
Speaking after the embarrassing defeat at Anfield, the German said: “There will be a rebuild for sure.
“That was obvious in the first three or four weeks for me. There could be six, seven, eight, maybe ten new players.”
While a lot of outgoing is also expected at the club. Nemanja Matic has already announced he will be leaving at the end of the season and players like Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani and Juan Mata are likely to follow suit when their contracts expire in the summer.
There is also uncertainty of the future of Cristiano Ronaldo at the club mostly in the event that the club fail to qualify for the Champions League for next season. Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Dean Henderson are also unsettled as they seem to have no role at the club.
Former RB Leipzig manager, Rangnick, who replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last year is enduring a difficult spell with the club, and the loss at Anfield did not come as a shocker, as the gap between the two teams has widen over the past years.
United has been linked with a number of exciting players lately in the likes of Darwin Nuñez. The Uruguayan who has been a revelation for Benfica this season, scoring 33 goals including six in the Champions League.
Another one is RB Leipzig’s attacker, Christopher Nkunku, who is arguably one of the best few players in the world right now. Anthony of Ajax is also one of them and it is being believed that Erik Ten Hag, who is the current leading candidate for the United managerial role could bring the Brazilian along to Old Trafford.
It is also being reported that the Dutch manager is keen on bringing in Aurelien Tchouameni from AS Monaco for the defensive role, a position which has been a major crisis in the United team.”
63 year old Rangnick went on to describe their performance at Anfield as ‘humiliating’. “It is embarrassing, it is disappointing, maybe even humiliating.
“I’m pretty sure our players knew the importance of that game to our supporters, but in the first half we weren’t on them at all.”
“They are one of the best teams in the world right now, we’re far away from that. We’re not physical enough.”
“In the first half we were nowhere. If you don’t try to win second balls, you will be second best in all possible areas.”
Manchester United return to action on Saturday when they travel to the Emirates to face Arsenal in the Premier League early kickoff.
